Magnus had told her that he's a nice man, and so far, he hasn't done anything to make her think otherwise. Her initial shyness fades quickly, and she reaches out with her tiny, mitten-clad hand to shake his. Her eyes are still big, but there's a tiny smile on her face, and when she pulls her hand back, she pulls her shell out of her coat to show him. Isn't it pretty?

It's much easier, much more pleasant, to focus on her shell than what Magnus is saying, about her having been here before.
